Leadership of the

Appalachian Christian Center

These are the offices of the leadership of as stated in the constitution of the ACC.

The officers of this body shall be:
Section 1. Pastor:

The pastor shall be the chief executive officer.

Section 2. Elders:

The ruling officers. (The pastor shall be one of the elders, who shall chair all meetings of the elders. The pastor, as the chief executive officer of the church, shall be granted the rights and privileges normally associated with the office.)

Section 3. Deacons:

The service officers.

The PASTOR is the chief executive officer of the church. The pastor must be called of God able to teach the people and bring forth the Word of God in a way to encourage the people. (Jeremiah 3:15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. AND Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:) The pastor is recommended to the church by the elders and voted upon by the members of the church. The pastor is called for an indefinite time period.

The name ELDER is chosen as the highest serving officer in the church based on 1 Peter 5:1 and Titus 1:7-9.

1 Peter 5:1 The elder is called to "feed the flock of God". This is taken as to "feed spiritually". They are called to lead the people by example.

The qualifications of an elder are the qualifications used to describe a bishop in Titus 1:7-9.

Titus 1:7-9 (7)For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; (8)But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; (9)Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.}

An elder is raised up from the rank of deacon. The elders, upon need of additional elders, will select a deacon who meet the qualifications of an elder as stated in Titus chapter 1 and has exhibited the call of leadership upon his life. Elders shall remain elders for life, unless grounds for dismissal arise.

Grounds for dismissal are not living a life as outlined by the scriptures for a leader.

The name DEACON is used as a service office based on the scripture in Acts chapter 6.

Acts 6:2-4 (2)Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. (3)Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. (4)But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

Another office was needed to take care of service related business that was very necessary for the well being of the church.

The qualifications of a deacon are stated in 1 Timothy 3.

1 Timothy 3:10-13 (10)And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. (11)Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. (12)Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. (13)For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

An elder or a pastor, who recognizes the call of leadership upon an individual's life, may bring the individual before the elders for nomination of the office. If the pastor and elders agree upon the individual, then that person is presented to the church membership for a vote. A deacon is elected for a period of two years and may serve consecutive terms.

Currently the ACC is under the leadership of Michael & Cathi Biggs as Pastors along with Harry Brown and Larry Hall serving as Elders. Dr. Stephen Miller and Jud Sloan serve the church as Deacons.
